It's Snowing in New England!
It's Snowing in New England!
North Florida is also expecting cooler days, but it was still 85 today. We've seen cool weather before, especially on our trip 'Up North' last year.

We were all set to work with Standardbred horses in Kentucky, arriving at The Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky toward the end of April. By our second day of work, Olga was wearing her thermal ski suit & a bright red Beanie! Daytime temps finally warmed up in mid-May, so we went to the annual High Hope Steeplechase and the local attached craft faire held at the Kentucky Horse Park.
We headed further north to Ontario, Canada on the first day of summer in late June. It rained every inch of the trip, and for the first 3-4 days of our Canada adventure. We spent eight weeks in Canada - great fun exploring the local flavour, training horses and picking up trinkets - Canadian Mapleleaf Logo Baseballs and old Coins. Back on the U.S. side of the Falls (Niagara Falls), we finished our horse adventure staying on a farm in Batavia, NY. Olga's had a rendezvous with her favorite horse - a grey named Casino Road. We got our pictures taken in the winner circle twice and came away smiling. BTW, we left the day before a horse named 'Signs of Frost' was due to race. We came away with finds from an Indian Trading Post and lots of fond memories of our summer 'Up North'.

Our trip south was a beeline through Pennsylvania, with an overnite stop at Gettysburg for Antiques, a day in Washington, DC and two days in North Carolina visiting old friends and doing some volunteer work. One of the really fun things about our trips south is the shedding of the layers of clothing we add when we go north. By the time we hit Jacksonville, it was Shorts and Aloha Shirts again.
We traded in the horse trailer for a new display case ;-) Well, Olga's smiling again now, but it took a while. There are always adjustments in life, aren't there? Olga traded in her Groom's License for a new college ID card.

Olga made twenty-five Crochet Beanies for people going to the Obama Inauguration. Since Olga started back to school this year we are naturally meeting many college-aged kids. We set up a booth weekly at the school marketplace. The kids tell you very quickly what they like and, by default, what they don't like. We wholesaled alot of Handbags & Clothing from India, including - Tie Dye Shirts. We winnowed down to Sterling Silver Jewelry and Long Skirts, but later added World Coins & Crochet Beanies as long as the weather stayed cool. For many students, it takes hard work, focus and regular assessment to succeed in school - much the same for successful business. This year our travels have been to the Forgotten Coast on the Florida Panhandle, and weekends trips to North Carolina, Atlanta & Daytona Beach. Still, it's been a great year!
